Viking age (800-1050 AD).
Viking gem from Gotland, Sweden. The pearl is of White Crystal.
Jewelry in silver with crystal found in the 1950s on Gotland by farmers during plowing. At the same time, the largest silver-framed crystal in the Nordic countries was found, it measured 4.8 cm in diameter, and is believed to have been used for magnifying glass, but also as decoration and jewelery. Objects with both round and flatter crystals have been found. Several accounts suggest that they have also been used for firewood and sunstone, a navigational instrument.
