Brooch probably of Danish origin, found in Denmark. The motive is called Urnæs-style. The word originates from the church at Urnæs in Norway which is known for its wood-carvings. The motive shows a fantasy animal struggling with snakes, a symbol of Christianity´s fight against heathenism.
