Viking age (800-1050 AD).
Goldplated bronzepiece found in 1988 at Åsum Enggård east of Odense. The motiv is a so called "gribedyr", a fourfooted fantasy animal of the viking age. It appears in many different shapes, sometimes entangeled in combat with snakes, sometimes alone with curled lips and backneck curls.
