    Rock engraving, during the Danish bronze age numerous pictures and signs were cut into stones, boulders and ice-polished rocks. The ship - with high stem and stern and keel extension - was a motif frequently used in the period.
    The logo for Denmark´s Presidency if the EC in 1987 is based on a rock engraving of a ship found on a stone near Gilleleje in Northern Sjælland. This petroglyph dates back to approx. 1000 BC.
