A very large silver treasure find was made in 1971 in Skørping and in a building site in Rebild (Jylland). The first pieces of jewelry were found in the garden of blacksmith T. H. Larsen in Skorping. He had had fresh soil spread unto it from a nearby building site in Rebild. Here Mr. C. L. Vebæk and contractor K. Andersen, with the use of a caterpillar tractor (initially) found in all 122 pieces of silver jewelry. Braided, wrought, and hammered rings, bars and scrap silver. The two sites yielded together approximately 11 pounds of silver jewelry of Scandinavian, Russian an Arabian origin. The find is dated 2nd half of the 10th century. ___________________________________________________
